A new bird portrait finished! Another reduction linoleum print with 9 (!) color layers. It is the 5th of a series of bird portraits I am currently working on. This portrait is inspired by the Goldfinch which I regularly encountered in the past when I went for a walk with my horse. To make the plumage of the body lively, different tones were needed that are closer together in terms of color scheme. For each layer of color I cut away more linoleum from one and the same block. As a result, the linoleum block in the last layer is reduced to almost nothing and is no longer suitable for reprinting. It is a limited edition of 55 prints. I have done my very best to print a high edition, but with the amount of colour layers this really seems to be the maximum achievable…
