While creating my bird portraits, I began to regret I wasn’t able to adjust certain species to the series. It was simply due to a practical obstacle: the length of their beaks meant they didn’t fit the series’ square format… So, this is a slight departure from that standard layout: the height of this print is exactly the same as the other bird portraits, but the width has been adjusted (150%) to accommodate this gannet and its beak. I think it is a nice addition to the series! This reduction linocut print features 13 layers of color, some of which I had to print twice or even 3 times. I devoted a great deal of time and attention to achieving the beautiful glow and shine in the golden-yellow head. It is a small, limited edition print run of only 18 prints.
