*On your desk* is the prompt of todays MarchMeetTheMaker
Day 3 of MarchMeetTheMaker and the prompt is ’Beliefs & values’.
Day 2 of MarchMeetTheMaker is about ’style’.
I thought it might be fun to join this years @marchmeetthemaker hosted by @joannehawker Today’s prompt is ‘Brand’. So hi, this is me! I’m an artist and printmaker. The tiny bird in the left lower corner of the picture is my logo and (of course!) originally made with linoleum. For as long as I can remember I have been fascinated by art. Creating new things and exploring materials: I cannot imagine my life without this creative process. I love the traditional craft. That is why I think making linoleum prints fits me so well and keeps fascinating. I am mainly inspired by nature, as you can see reflected in the subjects of my art. But also applied arts and more traditional crafts such as old ceramics, old letterpress art and classic carpets, fabrics and wallpaper are things that make me happy and trigger me to make new work. Artists who inspire me are David Hockney with his landscape paintings, the abstract work of Gerhard Richter, the blue work of Yves Klein and the cutting art of Matisse. But the biggest source of inspiration for my work is life itself. I do sell my prints on Etsy and art markets, really do hope these markets will be possible again any time soon!
Some stills and details of yesterday’s linoleum test print.
I just made a test print of this XL linoleum piece. Although I am very happy with the result (!) I think I’m gonna carve some more details before printing the run, because I feel the upper part is a bit to heavy compared to the lower part of the print.
Busy carving the details (lots of them!) of this XL linoleum piece, hope to be able to make a test print soon. I’m so very curious how it will turn out!
Spent this afternoon to finish carving the background of this linoleum piece
Happy Valentine’s Day! I hope you’re having a lovely day! I wanted to take today to say thank you so very much for following my feed, your lovely comments and kind messages that bring me so much joy and encouragement ❤️
I printed the final colour layer of this tiny bird linoleum piece this morning. It has 6 different colour layers in total. It has become a small print run of 21 birds. I started with 24, but ruined 1 and used 2 for colour combination experimenting
Work in progress with this tiny bird linoleum piece, another colour layer printed...
Started carving this XL linoleum piece yesterday evening, it will keep me busy for quite a while...
