Which started as an experiment is becoming quite a series now. I am really enjoying the handmaking process from sketching, carving and printing. It was Delft blue ceramics which inspired me to make the patterns in the animals at first, but I am freewheeling on the concept and making my own more and more complex versions. All this originated from my childhood. I’m not sure if I’m making memories or it’s giving expression longing for this uncomplicated time. My grandmother had the Beatrix tableware from Maastricht pottery which I liked a lot! These blue flower patterns on my grandmothers tableware were the origin of my love for blue / white pottery such as Delft blue, which is now a source of inspiration for my linocuts.
